The world of Asphalt Paving has become a complex environment,
from the beginning of the permitting process to the laying
of rigidly controlled Superpave Mixes. We at ALmix believe
you will find it comforting to know that there is a proven
technology, rooted in time tested principals, available to
help tackle today’s challenges. The art is not in the
concept. It is in the details. We also believe that the following
will demonstrate that the ability of our engineers, coupled
with
constructive feedback from knowledgeable owners and operators,
have allowed us to master the details.

Drum
Mixers: ALmix’s parallel
flow designs include a special herringbone bolt-in flight
design for maximum drying
and mixing efficiency, lower stack temperatures and reduced
fuel consumption. Drum mixers are constructed from 5/16" thick
steel plate and 3/8" thick A-572 alloy steel plate, depending
on the size of the drum. The drum is trunnion driven through
four (4) shaft mounted reducers by two (2) 15 H.P., 3/50/380v
motors. more.... |

Heat
Recovery Shields: This exclusive
feature consists of a steel shroud
covering the first six feet of the drum with
a slight air gap. Combustion air is pre-heated by being drawn
through the air gap while the drum shell is being cooled at
the same time. The shield is of great value when using extremely
wet aggregates or where coal or heavy fuel is being utilized.

Burner Assembly: ALmix employs
the Hauck StarJet burner assembly. The burner is capable of
burning any grade of fuel oil, natural
gas, liquid LP and combustible liquid waste. The burner assembly
includes a high efficiency, high altitude, blower driven
by a varying HP motors, automatic temperature control and flame
safeguards. The burner capacities range from 15,200,000 to
100,000,000 BTU/HR and up. The Star Jet
requires
no refractory type ignition port or combustion chamber. Thus,
thermal energy is imparted directly into the aggregate instead
of losing heat through refractory radiation. Burners are
routinely provided with maintenance platforms and constructed
from open
safety grating and including guardrails and ladder. more... |

Baghouses:
As
any plantman worth his salt knows ..... the key to production
is air flow. A low dryer velocity coupled with a low air-to-cloth
ratio results in high performance. These principals are strictly
adhered to at ALmix. Dryer velocities are held below 1,000
RPM and air-to-cloth ratios are held below 5 to 1. more... |

Control
Houses: Choose
from a wide variety of sizes and styles to find the right
control house for your plant operations. Whichever
unit you choose, it will be comprised of a custom steel framed
building which includes central heat and air, the plant controls
include full manual back up controls as well as amp gauges
for selected motors. The heart of the control system is the
plant PLC which handles control of all mix design ingredients.
A PC running the Windows™ operating system on a color
display is utilized to display all salient mix parameters.
A graphic of your plant is depicted with values, including
temperatures, displayed proximate to the appropriate piece
of equipment. A second PC is included to handle all silo
loadout functions. more...

Silos & Drag
Conveyors: A wide assortment of surge and
storage system choices is available. Systems may be stationary,
portable or self-erecting. Drag conveyors utilize welded
steel roller chains with abrasion resistant steel slats.
Chromium
carbide floor liners are bolted to the optionally heated
subfloor. Bypass doors are exceptionally long to promote
full clean out.
Heavily built silos feature gusseted cone sections to prevent
cone separation. Cone heat may be oil or electric. Insulation
packages are available up to 6 inches thick on sidewalls
and 12 inches thick at the silo top. more...

Asphalt Tanks: Asphalt
tanks may be direct fired, electric or hot oil heated. Most
users prefer hot oil heat for its versatility.
A hot oil heater provide neat for jacketed lines, silos and
additional asphalt, heavy oil or additive tanks. Our helical
designed heaters provide maximum efficiency and reliability.
Hot oil or electrically heated tanks may be either horizontal
or vertical. more... |

Cold
Feed Bins: Every drum mix asphalt plant begins with
a set of cold feed bins. After 35 years of building cold feed
bins, ALmix has
learned that there is no substitute for a MASSIVE design. Steel
to withstand the constant abrasion of aggregates
as well as the occasional front-end loader collision. more... |

Conveyors
and Screens: Material handling is an often
overlooked phase of the drum mix system. At ALmix we
realize that it’s
more than just getting from point A to point B. This where
your material is screened and weighed. An inadequate conveyor
translates into an imprecise belt scale and varying AC contents.

DUO
Drums: A
Duo Drum begins with a counter flow dryer. That’s
because you get maximum heat transfer efficiency and a correspondingly
low stack temperature with a counter flow dryer. This low
stack temperature allows one to superheat the virgin aggregate
to
allow a higher percentage of recycle to be used. As the superheated
virgin material travels toward the burner end, it is blended
with recycle material as it passes under the burner. This
process allows a positive charging of the mixing drum through
t he
high lift side discharge. There is no reliance on elongated
RAP inlet chutes and there no need to interrupt the integrity
of the dryer shell with troublesome RAP inlet ports. |
